Abstract

ABSTRACT
This study focuses on the implementation of the STEAM approach at the Benemérita
Universidad Autónoma de Puebla with the aim of enhancing learning in university education.
The STEAM approach, integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and
Mathematics, is considered crucial for promoting interdisciplinary education that holistically
prepares students for contemporary challenges. The research justifies the relevance of
STEAM in higher education due to its capacity to foster more comprehensive and practical
learning, which not only enhances academic knowledge but also creative and collaborative
skills. The methodology employed included an exhaustive literature review, analysis of
specific implementation cases in various bachelor's programs, and in-depth interviews with
faculty and students to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies adopted. The results show
significant improvements in the students’ academic performance, as well as increased
creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. Additionally, greater motivation and
participation in academic activities were observed. The conclusions emphasize the crucial
importance of continuous faculty training to adapt to new educational methodologies and the
effective integration of advanced technological resources into the university curriculum. This
helps create an innovative educational environment that not only enhances the integral
development of competencies needed to face the challenges of the 21st century but also
prepares students for an ever-evolving job market.
