Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe and analyze if the laughter therapy companion has a
significant improvement in the adaptation area for the foreign students. This study was done
in the season Spring 2019, with the help of the instrument MOSS at the beginning and at the
end of the semester. For this study, the participants made a semi-structured interview at the
beginning of the semester to check the adaptability area. Moreover, the students participated
in a workshop with four sessions. The activities that the participants did, were related with
topics as techniques, methods and activities based in laugh therapy, overall, in social
techniques, capacity of decision and interpersonal relations. The sample consisted of 13
foreign university students, males and females studying during the spring 2019 period at a
private university in the Puebla city, regardless of their career and with their age range
between 18 and 23 years. The results of this investigations are positive because laughter
therapy generates an increase in the levels of adaptability in the group of foreigners from a
private university, the items of the instrument showed an increase from the first to the last
application of the instrument in the five areas that the MOSS instrument qualify.
