X. CONSTRUYENDO PUENTES MUSICALES

Abstract

The inter-institutional work between two state universities in Costa Rica resulted in
a successful collaboration that offered new music education opportunities for a
Costa Rican rural area. In 2021, the National University and the State University to
Distance started a strategic alliance in order to work together on a project
called "An open window to music" in the community of San Marcos de Tarrazú.
This union made it possible to bring a new musical learning option to a remote community
of the great metropolitan area of Costa Rica. For this, the work was taken as reference
carried out in the Pre-university Program of Musical Training of the School of Music of
the National University, a project focused on the preparation of future students of
music careers and also in instrumental teaching for the community in general. TO
Despite having started in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, this new collaboration
interuniversity also became a new job option for people who had recently
graduated. It also allowed having a space for the pedagogical practice of students of
different careers of the School of Music of the National University. In this way, it
managed to offer quality education to all those who sought to enjoy
music or that they also wanted to enter a university career. the music became
thus in an element that builds bridges between universities and rural communities of
Costa Rica.
