Abstract

This research aims to adapt the case study methodology as a learning strategy for finance
through ICTs. In effect, when reviewing the syllabus of the finance area, it is determined that
Financial Management is a relevant subject or module to implement the methodology of
"Case Study", ideal to facilitate the teaching-learning process in the last semesters and
consequently, to strengthen competencies of being, knowing and doing, when developing
cognitive processes such as describing, interpreting, analyzing, arguing and synthesizing
financial variables in a business environment that contributes to decision making. In the same
way, strengthen competencies such as teamwork, communication, negotiation and
interpersonal relationships, skills needed in undergraduate students. The case studies are
implemented in the virtual and face-to-face modalities, using resources such as OVA, AVA
and the inverted classroom methodology, which strengthen and make this strategy successful;
however, the case studies must be adapted to the Colombian business environment, so that
the students are immersed in a real world, analyze the data and make decisions adjusted to
the organizational problem, avoiding seeing the case study as something complex,
incomprehensible and difficult to solve.
