VII. CONDICIONES DE SEGURIDAD Y SALUD EN LA ACTIVIDAD DE VENTAS AMBULANTES Y ESTACIONARIAS

Abstract

In Colombia due to various socio-demographic factors, displacement, absence of
public policies and unemployment, the population dedicated to the
stationary and street sales, being an occupation with the greatest impact in the areas
metropolitan. Itinerant activity is exercised in public space and informally,
exposing yourself to dangers that cause accidents and/or illnesses not considered of
occupational origin. This condition is aggravated by recognizing that the majority of the population
informally employed does not contribute to the general system of occupational hazards (ARL).
It is estimated that due to the environmental conditions where the
stationary and street sales activities, the informally employed population is seen
exposed to multiple incident risk factors on their safety and health, among the most
relevant are: exposure to weather (U-V radiation, rain, cold, among others), to
noise and polluting particles, biomechanical and psychosocial (associated with problems
such as: alcoholism, drug addiction, delinquency, among others). The object of this study is
recognize the health and safety conditions of stationary and street vendors
from the San Mateo neighborhood in Soacha, Cundinamarca. It was found that the main risks of
this occupation are related to prolonged standing work, injuries and accidents by
falls, robberies, muggings, assaults, continuous exposure to noise and vehicle gases. He
improvement of these conditions implies the commitment of governments and those who
perform these tasks. Training and monitoring to mitigate risk conditions
