Abstract

This article examines the increasingly important role of sustainable finance and ESG
(environmental, social and governance) investment in the evolution of financial markets
worldwide. The incorporation of these criteria has become a key strategy for promoting
sustainable practices while strengthening the resilience and financial stability of
organizations. Although the field of sustainable finance is expanding, it faces several
challenges, especially the lack of standardization and the prevalence of greenwashing,
which makes it difficult to assess and trust ESG practices. However, technological
advances, such as artificial intelligence, open up new possibilities for improving the
transparency and credibility of these investments.
The article also analyzes how sustainable finance is helping to transform developing
economies, where instruments such as green bonds and sustainable credits have been
effective in financing positive impact projects in countries such as Colombia and Brazil.
The importance of financial education in sustainability is essential for both investors and
companies to fully understand the value of ESG criteria. With stronger international
collaboration and the establishment of robust regulatory frameworks, sustainable finance
has the potential to redefine the financial system, moving towards a more sustainable
financial model.
