Abstract

The University Institutions (IU) have the great challenge of supporting the construction of
the knowledge society, being the main actor of social transformation. Likewise, the Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) practices focused on the university environment allow to
demonstrate its contribution towards Sustainable Development. Due to the synergy between
CSR and UI, University Social Responsibility (RSU) originates. Although there is evidence
of progress on the subject, there are still great opportunities for improvement in its
application, with respect to the substantive functions of the UI. Therefore, the present
research aims to determine a model of University Social Responsibility, based on the
systematization of the content of the main research databases, establishing its main
components, so that it functions as a frame of reference for progress in this area of knowledge,
with a focus on Smart Campuses.
To achieve this objective, an exploratory and descriptive methodology is proposed, starting
with a bibliometric analysis, which will allow a recognition of the current state of the subject,
continuing with the selection and systematization of the main findings, which will lead to the
determination of the RSU model. This process made it possible to identify and characterize
the main variables that make up the USR, as well as their relationship, establishing a
conceptual model of reference for both academics and system actors interested in the
development of the area.
