Abstract

The main objective of this work was to analyze the link between the concept of governance and economic growth, in the context of the dynamics and elements that make up the political economy in the 21st century. Specifically, a comparative analysis is carried out between the governance management and macroeconomic policies of Germany, Argentina, Chile and Spain for the period 2008-2020, using the comparative quantitative analysis methodology of macroeconomic aggregate data of each country, together with the governance indicators provided by the World Bank. First, the research establishes a theoretical approach and the scope of governance in a political and economic context and how it is linked to the economic growth variable, considering the importance of the latter concept in the macroeconomic management of the countries. Second, the document establishes essential elements to deepen the discussion about the relevance of governance as a determining factor in economic conduct at the macro level in a long-term perspective, indicating with comparative data the economic realities of the aforementioned countries that acts as empirical evidence for the analysis presented. Finally, the research develops a final consideration that aims to highlight the importance of the governance variable in political and social structures, thus managing to better address the complexities of macroeconomic management in the 21st century and the promotion of development in the countries presented.
